Arrive at Verona airport in the afternoon and transfer the short distance to the 4-star Hotel Colomba d’Oro in the heart of Verona. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant, after which there is the option to relax or see Bizet’s Carmen at the Arena, conducted that night only by Plácido Domingo.

This morning enjoy a walking tour of Verona, taking in Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori, the civic centre of Verona. A travel pass is included for independent visits to three notable churches. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure for you to further enjoy the splendours of this historic city. The performance that night is Verdi’s Aida in a production inspired by the first stage design of the opera which opened the Festival in 1913.

Depart for Vicenza for a tour of this picturesque city. Visits include the Basilica with its 8-sided tower and 17th-century frescoes, the Loggia del Capitano and the Palladian Teatro Olimpico with its stunning interiors and listed by UNESCO. The tour ends with lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Verona. That night the Arena hosts the ‘Plácido Domingo 50 Arena Anniversary Night’, with newly-staged acts from three of Verdi’s operas with other artists performing alongside the world’s great opera star.
