Itinerary

Tue 16 May

Independent arrival at the Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry. After an early evening welcome briefing we will take the short taxi journey to Whittington where we will have a pre-concert dinner at the White Lion, followed by the evening concert in the church.

Wed 17 May

Morning visit to Powis Castle, originally built around 1200 and featuring an extensive collection of art treasures, as well as world-famous gardens in the Italian and French style. There will be time for an independent lunch in the Castle Restaurant before returning to our hotel in the early afternoon. Transfer to Whittington for a pre-concert dinner at the White Lion, followed by the evening concert in the church.

Thu 18 May

Morning departure for Llangollen where we will take a trip on the Steam Railway to Corwen, with a short stop at Carrog on the return journey. We arrive back in Llangollen for lunch under your own arrangements in one of the many eateries in the town. After lunch depart from Llangollen back to the hotel. In the early evening we take a taxi to Whittington for pre-concert dinner at the White Lion, followed by the evening concert.

Fri 19 May

Morning visit to Chirk Castle which was constructed by Roger de Mortimer between 1295 and 1310, one of Edward I's chain of castles surrounding North Wales. Lunch at the Castle under your own arrangements, returning in the early afternoon to the hotel. Transfer to Whittington for a pre-concert dinner at the White Lion, followed by the evening concert in the church.

Sat 20 May

This morning we visit the awe-inspiring Pistyll Rhaeadr. At 240ft (80m) high, it is the UK’s tallest single drop waterfall which has an extraordinary effect on the many people who visit it each year. Lunch will be under your own arrangements at the café at the falls. We return to the hotel in the early afternoon to relax. Dinner under your own arrangements before the journey to Whittington for the concert in the church.

Sun 21 May

Morning at leisure followed by lunch at the White Lion in Whittington and the final afternoon concert in the church. After the concert, taxis either to Gobowen Station (arriving no later than 17.45), or there is the opportunity to stay in Oswestry for another night if desired.
