Itinerary

Thu 24 Aug

Midday arrival in Munich and transfer to Salzburg by coach (approx. 2 hours) to check in at either the luxurious 5-star Hotel Bristol or the comfortable 4-star NH Hotel, both in the centre of the city. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant.

Fri 25 Aug

Join your guide this morning to visit highlights of Salzburg’s musical history, including the Mozarteum, the Landestheater, the Mirabell Palace and the Cathedral. This is followed by a guided opportunity to see historic musical instruments at the Salzburg Museum. Afternoon at leisure and evening performance.

Sat 26 Aug

Today we journey from Salzburg into the scenic Salzkammergut, the Alpine region of lakes and mountains to the east of the city, which has inspired many an operetta melody. We pass through St Gilgen where Mozart’s sister lived, and visit the spa resort of Bad Ischl, popular with the 19th century Viennese elite, where we take a guided tour of the Kaiservilla, the Imperial Villa which was a summer residence for Franz Josef I and his wife Elisabeth (Sisi). Lunch will then be served in a traditional restaurant. Return to Salzburg for the evening performance.

Sun 27 Aug

This morning is free for independent exploration of the city. Mid-afternoon performance.

Mon 28 Aug

This morning there will be a backstage tour of the festival houses; the Festival Hall, the Haus für Mozart and the Felsenreitschule, subject to schedules. Afternoon at leisure and evening performance.

Day at leisure for you to make your own choice of activity. An early farewell dinner will be served in a local restaurant before your final performance.
