Mon 28 Oct

Mid-afternoon arrival at Dublin airport and transfer via coach to Wexford (approx. 2 hours). Check in at the 4-star Talbot Hotel, ideally located overlooking the River Slaney in the heart of the town. Welcome drinks and canapés at the hotel with the rest of the evening at leisure.

Tue 29 Oct

Meet your guide this morning for a fascinating and informative walking tour of Wexford. Vikings, Normans, soldiers, sailors, pirates, prisoners, monks and martyrs have all contributed to the rich and often turbulent history of this now peaceful and prosperous town. At the end of the tour, there will be a welcome lunch in a local restaurant. In the early evening there is the opportunity to attend a pre-performance talk before the opera.

Wed 30 Oct

A half-day excursion to the medieval city of Kilkenny, famous for its festivals, bustling crafts industry, cobbled lanes, secret passages and majestic 12th-century castle. After lunch in a local restaurant, return to Wexford to spend the afternoon as you wish before the optional pre-opera talk and evening performance.

Thu 31 Oct

Join your guide for a visit to the nearby town of New Ross to see the extraordinary Ros Tapestries - a modern-day Bayeux Tapestry depicting events around the Anglo-Norman arrival in the South-East of Ireland - created by teams of local skilled embroiderers since 1998. This is followed by a visit to the Dunbrody Irish Emigrant Experience which tells the story of Irish emigration and the many people who chose to leave their country for a new life across the ocean. Return to Wexford for a free afternoon before the optional pre-performance talk and that evening’s World Premiere and companion piece.

Fri 1 Nov
