Wed 27 May

Afternoon arrival in Munich and transfer by coach to the 4-star family-owned Hotel Torbräu, close to the colourful Marienplatz and only a short walking distance to the Bayerische Staatsoper. Rest and relax before a welcome dinner in the hotel that evening.

Thu 28 May

Meet your guide this morning for a walking tour of the Old Town around Marienplatz where the town hall’s impressive Carillon clock delights with a display of life-sized figures that reenact events from Bavarian history. Visits include the famous Frauenkirche with its landmark twin towers. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure before the first ballet performance that evening.

Fri 29 May

Today is a full-day excursion to the Bavarian Alps, starting at the small town of Oberammergau. Renowned world-wide for its performance of the Passion Play which takes place every ten years as a thanksgiving for the end of the Black Death, you will also visit the museum which displays a special exhibition around this unique event. After lunch in a local restaurant continue to Linderhof, Ludwig II’s smallest but most sumptuous palace. Return to Munich and the evening at leisure.

The day is free for you to enjoy as you wish before the second ballet at the Staatsoper.

Sun 31 May

A visit this morning to the sumptuous Residenz Munich, which served as the seat of government of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918, and is today one of the most important palace museums in Europe. This will be followed by a farewell lunch in a local restaurant. Time to rest and relax before the final ballet performance that evening.
