Mon 8 Jun

Lunchtime arrival and transfer to the 4-star Hotel Bristol Palace, an elegant Art Nouveau hotel in the heart of Genoa, close to the Ducal Palace and Teatro Carlo Felice. The hotel's beautiful and delicate spiral staircase was a cinematic inspiration to Alfred Hitchcock, who was a regular guest. Time to relax or explore the city before a welcome dinner in the hotel that night.

Tue 9 Jun

Join your guide this morning for a tour of the medieval heart of the city, one of the largest historic centres in Europe. Starting at Piazza Caricamento, you will wander through the ancient narrow streets (caruggi) and absorb the rich history of this once powerful maritime republic. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure, with a preperformance apéritif before the opera that night.

Wed 10 Jun

This morning you will explore some of the grandeur of Genoa, starting at the 16th-century Villa del Principe. The interiors have recently been restored by the Doria Pamphilj family and feature a wealth of frescoes, tapestries and wooden furnishings. Continue on to the Palazzo Reale, a former residence of the Savoy dynasty, with terraced gardens, exquisite furnishings, a fine collection of 17th-century art and a gilded Hall of Mirrors. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure with dinner that night in a private villa in the nearby fishing town of Sori.

Thu 11 Jun

Check-out and transfer (approx. 2 hours) to Turin, where you will stay at the luxurious 5-star Grand Hotel Sitea. The day is then free for you to spend as you wish. Once again, there will be a pre-performance apéritif before the opera that night.

Fri 12 Jun

Visits will include the splendid Piazza San Carlo, lined with churches and palaces, the 15th-century Cathedral and the baroque Palazzo Carignano, birthplace of the first King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II. The tour will end with lunch in a local restaurant, followed by the rest of the day at leisure.

Sat 13 Jun

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the largest royal residences in the world and has only recently been rescued from ruin.
