Early evening arrival in St Petersburg and transfer to the 5-star Domina Prestige Hotel, situated on the Moika river close to St Isaac’s Square and only a short distance from the Mariinsky Theatres. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant.

Thu 26 Mar

Join your guide this morning for a coach tour of the city. You will see the most important sights in the historic centre of St Petersburg, including the famous Nevsky Prospect, Palace Square, the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island and the infamous Peter and Paul Fortress. Return to the hotel for lunch and the afternoon at leisure before the early evening ballet performance at Mariinsky II.

Fri 27 Mar

Morning transfer to the town of Pushkin and the sumptuous 18th-century palace of Catherine the Great. Filled with ornate interiors, the jewel of the palace is undoubtedly the recently-restored Amber Room, a chamber decorated entirely with panels of amber backed with gold leaf, as well as many other treasures. A traditional Russian lunch is offered in a local restaurant, with an accompanying folk show. Return to St Petersburg with a little time to relax before the performance that evening in the old Mariinsky Theatre.

Sat 28 Mar

This morning there is a visit to the world-famous Hermitage. Your guided tour of the museum will focus on the lavishly-decorated reception quarters of the Winter Palace and highlights of its vast art collection, particularly works by the Impressionists. The rest of the day is free for you to remain at the museum or further explore the beautiful city of St Petersburg.

Sun 29 Mar

The morning is at leisure before the transfer to the new Mariinsky Theatre for the final ballet that afternoon. Immediately after the performance there will be a special farewell meal in a local restaurant. Return to the hotel for the evening at leisure.

Mon 30 Mar

Transfer to the airport for the early afternoon flight home.
