Early morning arrival in Salzburg and transfer to either the comfortable 4-star Hotel NH Salzburg City or the luxurious 5-star Hotel Bristol, both located in the city centre. A welcome lunch will be served at restaurant M32 which is located in the Museum of Modern Art overlooking the historic district of Salzburg. After lunch, check in to your chosen hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

A late morning concert performance is followed by an independent lunch, with the rest of the day free to explore the beautiful baroque city of Salzburg.

Mon 17 Aug

A full-day excursion to the scenic Salzkammergut, an Alpine region of lakes and mountains to the east of the city, which has inspired many an operetta melody. Pass through the village of St Gilgen where Mozart’s sister lived, and visit the idyllic spa resort of Bad Ischl, popular with the 19th-century Viennese elite, where you will have a guided tour of the Kaiservilla, the Imperial Villa which was a summer residence for Franz Josef I and his wife Elisabeth (Sisi). Lunch will be in a local restaurant before your return to Salzburg for the performance that evening.

Tue 18 Aug

A guided walking tour of Salzburg will allow you to visit some of the most important sights of the city such as the Mozarteum, Landestheater, Mirabell Palace and the Cathedral, as well as a visit to the State Exhibition celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Salzburg Festival. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure before the early evening opera performance.

Wed 19 Aug

This morning, subject to rehearsal schedules, there will be backstage tours of the main Festival houses: the Grosses Festspielhaus, Haus für Mozart and the Felsenreitschule. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, with the afternoon at leisure before the recital that evening.

Thu 20 Aug

The day is free for you to spend either sightseeing, shopping or simply relaxing. There will be an early farewell dinner before the evening recital.

Fri 21 Aug

Transfer to the airport for the late morning flight home.
