Early afternoon arrival in Berlin and transfer by coach to Leipzig (approx.. 2 hours) to check in at the comfortable 4-star Radisson BLU Hotel, located directly opposite the Opera House. Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Fri 18 Jun

This morning join your guide for a tour of the historic city, seeing the main sights which include the Thomaskirche where Johann Sebastian Bach worked as Music Director from 1723 until his death in 1750. Other notable sights include the Nikolaikirche, the Gewandhaus and the Town Hall. Early afternoon at leisure before the first performance at the Oper.

Sat 19 Jun

Today we take a day trip to Halle, birthplace of Handel. Our guided walking tour visits many noteworthy sites including the composer’s memorial in the historic market place and the Cathedral. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant before continuing on to visit the Halloren Chocolate Factory, where there will be the chance to sample their product! Transfer back to Leipzig for some time at leisure before the early evening performance.

Sun 20 Jun

This morning we visit the Mendelssohn House, the last private address of the composer and his place of death on 4 November 1847. Here it is possible to see many artefacts of the composer’s life, and there may also be the opportunity to enjoy a short concert (to be confirmed nearer to the date of departure). The tour will be followed by a farewell lunch in a local restaurant. The afternoon is at leisure before the early evening final performance.
